The New York rapper’s political and layered rhymes have been pegged as “conscious rap,” a label that has now become pejorative. His latest album challenges that image, paying homage to old-school hip-hop and working with the present.

Cleaning up, but leaving these right where they are with a smile. :) Never imagined this for myself…. God’s plan is amazing. #family #love #mommysmen

Fat, Funny, Feisty and Four… Months

Our little Ajani turned four months old yesterday — my, how time flies!

At bath time, our sweet baby turns into Michael Phelps with an Olympic-worthy back stroke. He’s perfecting his tummy-to-back roll over technique, he can throw his little body to and fro, and he absolutely LOVES to stand up while holding daddy’s hands. He has a curly fro, fat cheeks and lots of rolls all over! His favorite word is “ah-oooo” and he loves singing “The Wheels on the Bus” and the song about “Monkies Jumpin’ on The Bed.”

Since his parents are both children of educators, it’s no surprise that Ajani is already in school (sort of). He’s a star student in his Gymboree “Music and Play” class and he LOVES to stare at all of the other babies who attend “Babies, Bubbles and Books” at the Library. He’s even learning how to drive (his car-shaped walker)!

His favorite toys? Sophie the Giraffe and his tags blankie.

Clearly, mommy and daddy are enjoying every second of parenthood. Each day is a new adventure in our wonderful world with Ajani!

ps - Thank you, Ms. Katena, for my onesie! :-)

A cold, rainy day in Atlanta didn’t stop our first family photo shoot. Check out a few of the shots…

Textbooks, 812% More Expensive Than 1978
With a new semester almost upon us, it’s time to figure out why college textbooks are so absurdly expensive.

1978…an awesome year. :)

Ajani is learning how to play in his new bouncy chair. He likes it… for about 5-10 minutes.:-)
